FORT MASTERS
AD: Isa Lozano
PROBLEM: Tweens and teens don’t play outside anymore — they’re too plugged into those darn video games.
INSIGHT:
There’s nothing more motiviating than winning,
IDEA:
Use the games this age groups knows and loves to bring the competition outside.
SOLUTION:
“Fort Masters,” a backyard fort-building competition sponsored by Fortnite that helps build nature literacy skills (and get tween and teens to actually touch some grass.)

HOW TO PLAY:
Players or teams will build a fort outside and submit a photo, and a select few will compete on Twitch to stay in their forts as long as possible. Winning players will get their forts built in-game.
The secret? The more players learn about nature, the more advantages they can win later on.

Educational website fortmasters.com will help players learn about trees and other plants, plus common fort-building and survival techniques.
HOW TO NOT BE CRINGE:
Tweens and teens can spotting cringe like nobody’s business. To keep from sounding dated — or worse, like an advertiser — we had to be careful about what gamer lingo to incorporate and how much.

JUST FOR FUN:
My favorite piece of copy I wrote during this project was the FAQ pages for players who’ve advanced to the livestream round of the competition. After all, when else can you use “constipated” in your copy?
